The Power of One in community Print

We believe in the power of one! And then in the synergistic power of two (or more) to create magic in our world.

Clarissa Pinkola Estes puts it this way:

"One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times. The light of the soul throws sparks, can send up flares, builds signal fires ... causes proper matters to catch fire... Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it. If you would help to calm the tumult, this is one of the strongest things you can do"

If just one individual raises her or his consciousness to a higher level in regard to any area of life by reducing fear, sadness, pain, disappointment and increasing their ability to feel good about themselves and life itself, then this inevitably affects the embodiment of positive energy in those individuals and groups to which such a person belongs. This is not a theory but a fact: it is due to an energetic law that states that if two energies are vibrating at different frequencies over time they will begin to vibrate at the same frequency. The frequency that is the more strongly held will have the greater impact.

In practice this means that any and every individual can be extremely powerful in promoting a safer, more responsible, more enjoyable world if they themselves steadily and purposefully choose to work towards feeling safer in themselves and finding greater enjoyment with others and in life itself.

Imagine what can happen when two or more people take this path to expanded consciousness! We know of many couples and families who have improved their "happiness quotient" by working together in this way to build their own forms of positive relationships. Even the wider community to which these ones belong start to change for the better.
As the number of people who embody a way of life that reflects inner peace and trust in the power of the human spirit grows, so eventually The Hundredth Monkey effect takes place and those at a distance from the peace-makers mysteriously learn to put aside fear and conflict.  Ultimately, it is through these people - the ones who are pioneering the power of their own individual light to the community - that a transition culture can arise that will ground  solutions to our challenges. All the creative ideas, all the technological wizardry, all the streamlining of systems to improve our planet's welfare  are ultimately dependent for their power on the calm, joyful and self-respecting attitudes of those who would put them into effect.

But if you wish to create peaceful relationships in your own personal communities you, through the power of your own oneness, must first master a series of skills to bring about a powerful state of internal harmony.

These are:

  • Increasing your awareness of when you lose peace in the moment and how you respond in a dysfunctional way so that you can make adjustments.
  • Expanding your willingness to change. Not so easy as it sounds because you are used to discomfort!
  • Consciously improving the balance of your creative personality balance, which is a major cause of discomfort, especially in relationships.
  • Using brain entrainment methods to "embed" peace in your subconscious mind rather than having to rely upon self-discipline or good intention.

If you are not able to be committed to applying these key skills, then the conceptual content of the Reach Potential program alone will not be effective in bringing about the peace you desire for yourself and your community.
